Natasha Kolton: new artist in A White Spot In The Darkness

Oh, you can hardly imagine how happy am I to introduce the works of Natasha Kolton on this plattform! 😍

A friend in the other side of the world

I met Natasha a couple of years ago on Instagram. Yes, Intagram! Back then I could not imagine that she would become one of my best friends despite the fact that she lives in the other side of the world. I mean it, Buenos Aires can very well be the Antipodes of Korpo.

She left a beautiful comment to one of my pictures in the plattform and I felt immediately connected to her. Over the months our relationship became stronger and stronger. She became a great supporter of my art and she was always there, ready to flood me with love when my self stem was weakening. Nowadays she is present in the evolution of my two children, she is there to support Ida and I when we need it, she is there to make me laugh, there when I need to cry… Natasha has a great heart and a huge sense of humor. A sense of humor enhanced by her “porteño” accent. I have always loved the Spanish intonation of the people form Buenos Aires.😊

Natasha, the multifaceted and overwhelming artist

One of the traits that better defines Natasha is her enormous need of connection and self expression. She is a visual artist, but she also writes and plays her own music. Deep music that has the potential to take us on a fantastic inner journey if we close our eyes and let it go.

She has recently released Panadero, a three track single. I was partially present in the conception and execution of this album, and all I can say is that Natasha and her team has invested a great deal of time, creativity and spirit to deliver such a wonderful album. Ten minutes of deliciousness, diverse moods and an incredible array of layers that allows the listener to come back to the album over and over again, and find something new, something different every time. I invite you to press play and keep reading this text to discover the print collection she has kindly donated to this project.

Third part of Panadero. She has even crafted this wonderful cover all by herself 😮

How Natasha became a white Spot In The Darkness

On this webpage´s homepage, you can find a box calling for artists to become White Spots In The Darkness too. As soon as she realized about that box she contacted me: “Aarón, let’s do it, you can use any of my artworks for your plattform”.

I felt so honored about that. I love the way she paints and the collection I present today, Flower Woman, is my favorite kind of artistic expression: simple and deep. Simple as an outcome, because I got to know that the process of painting of those wonderful flowers involves many many layers.

Four months have passed since the time she sent me the files for the prints until today, when I introduce them to all of you. In between I have had my second child and I took a long pausefor Christmas.

But finally I found the time to print her artworks and put them for sale, and I am so happy for that. I don’t feel anymore that I am alone, finally White Spot In The Darkness has the potential of becoming what I always dreamed for it, a plattform where the creativity of many artists around the world meet people that appreciate art and wants to use a small amount of their money to help another humans in need. And I can’t find a better way to elevate A White Spot In The Darkness to its potential than offering Natasha’s Flower Woman to all of you. They are just so beautiful.

  • The works are printed in A4 format on my beloved Hahnemühle German Etching, a fine art texturized german paper.
  • They are printed at home to ensure the highest colour accuracy, in a top of the line Epson Surecolor SC P800 printer.
  • The price of the prints is 66€ and as always, on the webpage you can find the breakdown of the costs involved and the money that goes to support the project: 45€ (68%).

About The Project

On the homepage you can always find the last count of the founds collected. The last blog post I wrote spoke about how the money counter went down in order to send a small amount of money to Reham to buy firewood and clothes for the winter.

Happily since that time I have been in two Christmas markets and get to sell some works. If you are subscribed to my mail list you already know about this, if you are not you can find the form to subscribe bellow.

The money counter has raised again to a 40% of the necessary amount, and while it is going slower than I expected, I am very happy that some people are getting involved and the founds are growing.

Reham is of course having a rough winter down in Siria. It is very cold, her health is quite delicate and she is going trough cold after cold. At some point she also got infected by COVID but happily she recovered from that. The only hope she has in her life is to cross the border and meet the rest of her family again. At least those that are alive…

If you want to know more about Reham and the project, you can read about it on the sidebar and bellow this blog post. On the homage you can also find much more information.

In order to be able to Reham I need to collect at least 1.500€ to pay a safe way out of the country. So if you have read this post all the way here, please visit the page of Natasha’s artworks, vitis also the page of my print collection A Time To rest, and purchase some of the works. they are beautiful pieces to decorate your house, your office or your bedroom, but also as a present for a birthday or any other celebration. Become a White Spot In The Darkness for a human in need.

With love 💕

About the project

A White Spot In The Darkness is a solidarity project grown on the words of Reham, a terribly sad person. Trapped in Syria, all she can dream is about escaping that madness.

I have been for about two and a half years in almost daily contact with her. In all this time we have developed a deep relationship: she has become like a sister to me. Her pain is deeply rooted on my heart.

With a lot of personal effort and struggle, I have managed to send her several chunks of money to allow her family members to leave the country before her. First her sick father. Her younger brother after that. Later her older brother. Her mom?… dead under the bombs.

The last time I sent her money I was very happy with the idea that soon she would also be out. She crossed the border, she got caught, she was sent back into Syria. She lost the money and all hope…

After that experience she was feeling too embarrassed and hopeless to even talk to me. After insisting I managed to make her talk to me again. She hoped dead, she told me that my efforts to help her it was the only white spot in her total darkness.

The economical effort to help her has been considerable. I have stretched my creativity: done a solitary rifle with one of my works, place a glass jar in a restaurant to get funds, ask for diverse amounts of money to friends and family, sell some photography equipment and much more. Nowadays I feel that all my possible funding sources have dried up. That’s why I start this project hoping that you can help me to help her, hoping that you will become a spot in her darkness too.

I will donate the profits from the sell of this artworks to her. This time I want to have enough for her to get a safer way out, for that I need about 1.500€. Under this text you can find a counter with the amount of money I have collected until now. I offer total transparency. If I manage to run this campaign successfully I will continue the project hoping we can all become more and more white spots in the darkness for other people. I am a person that has simplify his soul to the point to follow only one believe in life, and this is that humanity is about helping each other.
